Project Description

Ground-Level Enhancements (GLEs) are among the most significant space weather events for aviation, yet they remain difficult to capture in real-time.

This study analyzes GLE 75, a solar particle event from June 2024 that initially bypassed standard monitoring systems and was identified only through retrospective analysis.

The paper provides a reconstruction of the spectral and angular distribution of the event, highlighting specific limitations in current detection capabilities.

For ALBATROS, these findings are essential. Improving the identification of such events allows us to refine warning protocols and ensure better protection for aircrews and passengers against radiation exposure.

This research contributes to the project’s comprehensive Space Weather analysis, carried out in collaboration with our partners at FMI (Finnish Meteorological Institute).
