Project Description

On 11 May 2024, the 74th Ground Level Enhancement (GLE74) was registered by ground-based neutron monitors following a significant solar eruption.

This new open-access study provides a comprehensive reconstruction of the event, integrating multi-point observations from spacecraft (SOHO, GOES, STEREO-A) with ground-level data to trace the origin and dynamics of these high-energy particles.

For ALBATROS, analyzing events like GLE74 is fundamental. It strengthens the data foundation needed to validate our radiation models and enhance real-time safety protocols for aviation.

This work was published in Solar Physics and includes significant contributions from our partners at FMI (Finnish Meteorological Institute).
