Project Description
Airports are increasingly vulnerable to temperature fluctuations and extreme weather events. To maintain safety and operational flexibility, we need high-resolution data that accounts for localized climate dynamics.
In this newly published study, our partner CIRA (Centro Italiano Ricerche Aerospaziali) applies the COSMO-CLM regional model to assess the specific impact of the IPCC RCP8.5 scenario on Roma Fiumicino Airport.
Key insights from the research:
-
Methodology: The study employs advanced statistical methods, including fractal analysis, to improve prediction capabilities in complex topographies.
-
Findings: Projections indicate a consistent increase in daily temperatures and reveal an increasing complexity in future climatic patterns.
This research supports the core mission of ALBATROS: improving the resilience of critical aviation infrastructure to ensure the continued safety of passengers and personnel in a changing climate.
